Now that Christmas is over, and it is unlikely that Santa will return to take back gifts, I can tell you a little tale about the FG. That happened on Sunday. Before Christmas. I figure Santa was so busy getting ready for the big day that he overlooked some indiscretions.

The new toy…
Time to tell you about our other Christmas gift. My human had read that some other people owned by PONs really liked this toy – so unbeknownst to me she put it on my list for Santa. And we are glad she did. It’s called a Bob-A-Lot -and it’s basically a treat dispenser. It’s different from the Pyramid dispenser because you can adjust the flow of the treats. We each got to play with it – one at a time- so as not to cause TOO much pandemonium. Or is it PONdemonium when Einstein and I play?
Presents!
December 26. The day after the big day. And yes indeed- we DID get presents!
Anyway, we enjoyed opening our gifts AND the treats. We went for a run on the golf course and had a fabulous time. At one point, it appeared that the FG might be feeling the call of the wild- so to get him to return, my human hid and her sister went down on the ground. He went to find my human and then went to see what was wrong with her sister. She grabbed his leash. That’s the new way to recall the FG. Play dead.
A very Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas! I am going to keep this short – because remember how I said Christmas is for sharing and spending time with family and friends. Well my human’s sister spent the night – so I really must go and get her up. I know how much she loves spending time with me.
Dear Santa. The ask.
Dear Santa,
Santa I ask for HEALTH, peace and happiness within the hearts of those reading this – even if just for a moment. And that feeling of pure joy – that we dogs know ALL about. That’s what I wish for.
Santa, last year we had a secret wish – and I just want to thank you for granting it… It was a very special Christmas – and for that we will be forever grateful. So Santa, I hope you get some extra special treats yourself this year. Hey – who do you write YOUR letter to?!
Wishing a very Merry Christmas to all!!!
Money!
Well thanks to you, my loyal readers – we got our first ever payment from our blog. You know how you click on those ads? And we get a few cents for every click? Well since October, we had a goal to reach $100 – and remember how I told you that we DID it!? Well we got the money!!! So my human went and bought us some Honey Beefers-our favorite treats! Finally I can pay my own way and buy stuff around here. Thanks for reading- and clicking!
Lights.
So I got a gift the other night. Well it wasn’t JUST for me – it was for me and my brothers. And really for my human too. More poop bags!
I hope you have a delightful day!
Winter.
December 21. It’s the shortest day of the year. But the good news – now days will start getting LONGER! Yippeeeeee. Today is also the first day of winter. And in typical Nova Scotia style, we have rain in the forecast. We had snow the other day – when my human was able to get some obligatory winter photos like the one you see above. And these:
Good thing she did – they are saying it is HIGHLY unlikely we will have a white Christmas. Mind you, around here the snow is white and yellow. But with all the rain in the forecast, it looks like we will be having a green, muddy Christmas.
Today is also Crossword Puzzle Day – because in 1913, the first crossword puzzle was printed in the NY World newspaper. So to commemorate that day, here is a dog puzzle for you to do – you need to print it out as a PDF:

That’s just in case you are sitting around because you have completed all your holiday shopping, wrapping, decorating, baking, cleaning, card writing, package deliveries, grooming…. Yup because you have nothing to do, you can do a crossword puzzle. Actually – maybe you need a BREAK from all the other stuff. Humans tend to get a little wild at this time of the year. Worrying about everything. Especially the gift giving. I heard a quote the other day that was good – “It’s not what’s under the tree that matters – it’s who’s around it.” Take time to enjoy just being with your loved ones – human and canine. And OK, cats too. But not snakes. OK. Snakes too – but in their own little containers…
Take a break. Relax. Read a book. Watch a Christmas movie. Call a friend. Take a nap. Skip the bath for the dogs.
(I worked that one in well….)
Happy Solstice!
Have a good one. Peace and paws up!

Santa has dogs. 128 and counting…
OK loyal blog readers, I am again plagiarizing my own material. Time to pull out that famous poem – and publish it again.
The poem, A Visit from Saint Nicholas also known as The Night Before Christmas was written by Clement Moore. As you may recall from the last two years, I took Clement’s version – and modified it. It’s the canine version. And I updated it again for this year. This goes out to all those canines and their humans who read my blog – and my apologies in advance for the many names I am missing!!!!! I cannot tell you how long my human poured over Facebook pages trying to find dog names and I KNOW there are others who read my blog who I undoubtedly missed- please know that I appreciate each and every one of you. Those not appearing in the poem will appear in another blog. My human got through the upgrade and then started thinking she didn’t even want to post it – because she is so afraid that she missed someone! The tricky part is that some of you post pictures of your dogs – and then don’t post a name! Really!!!!!!! Perhaps she should list all the human names instead of the dog names. But that would make this poem very strange…I should also note that we were also running out of dog commands…
In some cases, some of the dogs may no longer be with us – but they are still in our hearts – so they remain in the poem. I also appreciate those humans who aren’t currently owned by dogs – who read my blog! And remember – if you ever feel the need for a dog fix, I am available for rental. My human says she pays YOU to take me….
So here we go…
Candy
December 19 and it’s National Hard Candy Day. So it suddenly struck me…there are ALL kinds of treats out there for us canines – including dog ice cream, beer biscuits and liver cakes and pupcakes. BUT – I have never seen any dog hard candies. And as you might expect, we should NOT eat human hard candies. They are too sweet for us (so could cause gastric problems), they can break our teeth, and we could choke on them if we swallowed them. As we know, that would be real problem for us PONs who basically inhale our food. I did find this recipe for dog candy canes though. They aren’t REAL candy canes – but we can pretend. Sure we can. As if we dogs care that they look like candy canes. If they are edible, we don’t take enough time to even look at them.

Still, it would be NICE if somebody around here baked us SOMETHING. And it’s not going to be me – the oven mitts don’t stay on my paws. Besides, I have another relationship with oven mitts. They make a great snack. Right up there with coat pockets. Oh. And slippers. But THIS time, it was the FG – not me. And he even did it while my human was doing some work. He was at her feet, and just kept taking tiny nibbles.
My human worked from home yesterday because we had a really snowy day. Guess my snow tire theory didn’t work for long. It was nice to have her home, but today she goes in to work. Pretty soon though, she’ll be staying with us all the time. And we can’t WAIT!!!
Have a good one! Peace and paws up!
